VEGETABLE CLASSES

SUMMER SHOW RULES

(See also Rules for Cookery, Handicraft & Children's Classes below)

1. All fruit, vegetables and flowers must be grown by the Exhibitor except in Classes 248 - 258 inclusive.
2. In fruit and vegetables classes all specimens must be of the same variety unless noted otherwise in Schedule.
3. THE SCHOOL WILL BE CLEARED FOR JUDGING ON FRIDAY MORNING AT 7.45 a.m. PROMPT (THIS WILL BE ENFORCED)
4. The Committee may refuse any entry and shall have the power to determine in which classes a competitor may compete.
5. All entries with fees must reach the Secretary not later than Wednesday 28th July 2008 and by 9.00 pm. Unlimited entries per class are allowed.
6. No exhibitor may take more than one set of points in any Class for Cups etc.
7. The Judge may withhold or divide any prize and their decision is final.
8. Protests and objections must be lodged with the Secretary in writing not less than 1 hour before presentation of Prizes.
9. The Committee shall have the power to appoint any member to inspect any garden or allotment prior to the Show.
10. The Committee will not be responsible for any loss or damage sustained by exhibitors during the Show; but all possible care will be taken.
11. Winners of Trophies must sign a Guarantee to return the same in good and clean condition to the Secretary FOUR WEEKS before the next Show.
12. Entry Fees 25p per entry subject to a maximum of £5.00 Over 10 entries entitles competitor to free Personal Admission ticket to the Show.
13. Entry Fees in Floral Art Classes 248- 250 and 253 - 256 - 75p.
14. Entry Fees in Floral Art Classes 251 & 252- 25p
15. Entry Fees to W.I and Club Classes 257 – 258 - £1
16. Prizes may be awarded in cash or vouchers. Prizes not claimed within 7 days will be returned to the Society's funds.
17. All exhibits must be collected by exhibitor or representative.
18. No entry may be removed before 3.30 pm Sunday - All entries must be collected by 4.00 pm latest.
19. No person under 18 years will hold any official capacity at any show.
20. All Stewards will be appointed by the Secretary.
21. The school will be ready for setting up by
2.00 pm Thursday and close at 9.00 pm. Thursday. Also open Friday morning 7.00 am - 7.45 am.
22. For the information of Visitors we request that wherever possible, entries of Fruit, Vegetables, Flowers and Pot Plants are clearly labelled with the name of the Variety.

RULES FOR COOKERY, HANDICRAFT & CHILDREN'S CLASSES

1. The Committee undertakes to make the most careful arrangements to ensure the well being of exhibits throughout the Show.
2. All exhibits must be entirely handmade by the exhibitor except where otherwise stated. They must have been completed within the last two years and not exhibited at any previous Ambleside Show.
3. Entry form and fees must be sent to the Hon. Secretary, David Capstick. Schedules are supplied free but all communications requiring an answer must be accompanied by a stamped, addressed envelope.
4. Articles may not be claimed before 3.30 pm on Sunday of the Show and must be collected by the exhibitor or an approved representative before 4.00 pm.
5. In awarding Prizes, originality, cleanliness, and suitability of materials, pattern and stitch are considered. If an exhibitor claims a design as original, a signed statement to this effect should be attached to the exhibit.
6. Where there are less than 4 entries in a Class, or where the Judges consider that none of the exhibits is of sufficiently high standard, they may withhold any or all of the prizes.
7 Completed entry forms with fees will be received up to 9.00 pm on Wednesday 28th July 2008.
8. All jars of Jam, Honey, Marmalade, etc. to be labelled with date and year of making plus type of fruit where necessary. (Please use screw top jars for the convenience of the Judges)
9. All Cookery Exhibits may be cut at the Judges discretion.
10. All Bread, Cakes, and other types of food to be presented in clear plastic bags and not covered in cling film, paper bags, etc. Entries will be re-wrapped after judging.
